Updated April 12, 2010Since 1924, the 68th has been serving the needs of youth in the west end of Toronto. We have been in the same location - on Pritchard Avenue, in the Jane and St. Clair area, with the same sponsor - North Runnymede United Church for our entire history and we are one of the oldest and longest running Groups in the Old Mill Area. We are proud to be one of the few Groups who offer all levels of the Scouting Program - from Beavers to Rovers! Our current crop of Leaders brings with them a wealth of knowledge and commitment. From our longest serving Leader, Eva, who has 30 years experience with our Group, to our 'newest' Tanya, has 3 years experience, we provide a consistent and dedicated crew of adults. Deena, Jill and Heather provide a wonderful Beaver program; Carol and Tanya run a great Cub Pack, Mike and Eva work on the Scout front; and Lucas is working hard with our Venturers. Our Rover Crew has recently adopted a Rover/Leader from Mexico: Rogier. Jill has taken on the Rover Advisor position, in addition to her Beaver Leader work. And that doesn't include our longest serving member - Chris, our Group Treasurer with over 35 years of experience! The remainder of our Group Committee is made up of past Leaders - Tony, our Group Chair, and past family member, Melody our Group Secretary. All of our Sections are very active in Area Events, from our Annual Beaveree to those fun and whacky camps. We believe in family participation too! Whether it's a Section outing to the Zoo or Pioneer Village, or a Group outing such as the Annual Jamboree On The Trail, when ever possible we encourage our families to join us in the Scouting Spirit.Do we camp? DO WE CAMP!From Cubs to Rovers we camp as often as we can. Sometimes in tents, sometimes in lodges and sometimes in things in between. Regardless of the season - WE LOVE TO CAMP!And that's not all! With our families we celebrate the birthday of our Founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, with a Pot Luck Banquet and a Youth Service, honour our Veterans on Remembrance Day and have two great family parties - Halloween and Christmas! We have a long history and we plan on being an important part of our area's youth for a long time to come.
